Netherlands crushed Ireland 6-0 to win the Women's Hockey World Cup for a record eighth time and final score of 6-0 is an all-time record for World Cup finals. Though Ireland didn't score any goal in finals but had won new fans on their unlikely road to the finals, and climbed into the top 10 of the world rankings for the first time.
Goals from Lidewij Welten, Kelly Jonker, Kitty van Male, Malou Pheninckx, Marloes Keetels and Caia van Maasakker capped a dominant performance from the Dutch, Four goals in just seven-minute spell around the half-time break earned the team an emphatic victory.
Just two minutes into the second half, Marloes Keetels was on hand to knock the ball into the goal after another defense-splitting run by Welten.
The 2018 tournament was held in London, England from 21 of July to 5 August. Indian women's hockey team reached quarterfinals but eventually went down to Ireland in the quarterfinals in penalty shootouts which Ireland won 3-1.
